Lewes Bonfire Celebrations

Many people have written about the celebrations and many television and radio programmes are made on the subject. Very few authors or producers are able to capture the unique spirit of Lewes Bonfire and it would be folly even to try to explain the mystique of the celebrations.

The festivities are very colourful; the participants wear incredible costumes, carry flaming torches and let off the occasional firework. The streets of Lewes are closed for November the Fifth, and belong to the bonfire boys and girls of Lewes.
